Board of Trustees
UC Academy is governed by a strong Board of Trustees. The Board is committed to govern by Policy Governance. Under the Policy Governance model, the Board is responsible for establishing the organization’s mission, vision, core values, and governing policies. The daily management of the school is delegated to administration, and the Board holds administration accountable for fulfilling the school’s mission/vision and for managing in full compliance with Board policies.
The UC Academy Board of Trustees is a self-perpetuating board. There are nine board positions; three are selected from the parent body, three from the community at-large, and three from Patria Church membership. The Board meets at least quarterly. The first half (or general session) of Board meetings are open to parents and the community. The second half (or executive sessions) are for Board members and the Superintendent only.
Board members are kept aware of school activities, but they do not participate in the daily management of the school. The Board encourages those with operational, management, or personnel concerns to contact school administration.
Meet the Board
Pastor Diego Mesa
President
Founding Pastor of Patria (formerly Abundant Living Family Church). A grandparent of UCA students, Pastor Diego provides visionary spiritual leadership as the Board’s president.
Rich Munkvold
Vice President
A longtime UCA alumni parent — three of his children came through UCA, including a graduate from this year’s class. He brings a deep, multi-generational family perspective to the Board.
Pastor Aaron Levy
Treasurer
A pastor with Patria and a current UCA parent with two children enrolled at the school. Pastor Aaron helps steward the Board’s financial oversight.
Leonard Buckner
Trustee
Serves with the San Bernardino County District Office. A longtime UCA alumni parent — his daughter graduated from United Christian Academy many years ago — Leonard brings public-service and community leadership experience to the Board.
Angie Richey
Trustee
President of Life Pacific University. Dr. Richey brings the perspective and expertise of a Christian higher-education leader to UCA’s governance and long-term vision.
Dave Morris
Trustee
A current UCA grandparent with three grandchildren presently attending United Christian Academy. Dave represents the multi-generational families who make up the heart of the UCA community.
Marina St. Cyr
Trustee
A local business leader and UCA alumni parent — three of her children came through United Christian Academy. Marina brings entrepreneurial insight and a family legacy at the school to the Board.
