College Prep/Guidance

Select from the drop-down menu above to find helpful information on important topics. Our goal is to support you as you grow academically, personally, and spiritually—making your high school experience both rewarding and enjoyable!

At United Christian Academy, college preparation begins with purpose. We believe every student is uniquely created by God with gifts meant to impact the world. Through rigorous academics, intentional mentorship, and faith-centered guidance, we equip students to confidently pursue higher education and the calling God has placed on their lives.

Freshman

  • Emotional regulation - Assess sense of belonging and school connectedness, normalize stress/anxiety and teach coping routines, and introduce self-advocacy and communication skills
  • Academics - Study skills, monitor early grades and intervene within first quarter and introduce graduation requirements and 4-year course planning
  • Proper matriculation into high school
  • Explore interests and strengths inventories via Naviance

Sophomores

  • Working with students on career consideration and preparedness.
  • Reinforce time management with increased workload
  • Teach deeper learning strategies (metacognition, error analysis, reflection)

Juniors

  • All juniors should be focusing on the steps entering into their senior year and beyond.
  • Guidance sets appointments with the juniors to discuss their college search.
  • Juniors continue researching various colleges from “reach,” “target” and “safety” schools.

Seniors

We are here to help guide you in your next steps to choose the right College or University.

  • What is most important to you when selecting a College/University?
  • College Fit is how well a College or University meets a student's social, academic and financial  needs.
  • College Match is an important part of "College Fit". It refers to the likelihood that a College or University will admit a student based on grades, test scores and other academic requirements.
